By Geoffrey Straubinger on September 26, 2013
Length: 1:59 Mins
Quick overview of the Logitech F710 Wireless Gamepad. I got this to use on a Windows7 PC with Steam (digital game distribution/library software) and their "Big-Picture" mode you can use to experience games on the TV or from a convention mouse/keyboard. Windows7 found the motive force and installed it rapidly without any fuss. Games identify this like a Xbox360 controller(tested with Borderlands2, Dead Island, Requirement for Speed and blur), as the style is nearer to a Ps controller, the X Y A B - buttons are nearer to an Xbox controller and It really works great in that way(no extra setup in game needed).
like:
-Back of controller had a nice smooth/soft feel plastic
-buttons and Sticks have nice weight/resistance
-Windows7 Found the motorists and installed without any fuss, ready to play quickly
-Comes with name-brand batteries (2x AA) already installed
-Comes with USB extension cable to locate wireless receiver away from computer (I didn't have to do nevertheless this).
-Games recognize it as being an XBOX360 Controller, no setup/binding needed
-I have used it with a range from 3-6 feet with no issues
-Sticks possess a textured rubber on top that's great, Feels Great and fingers don't slip off.
dislike:
-The buttons have a very good feel but sound very plastic (loud click-clack sounds when playing)
-Package (Plastic Clamshell) is simpler to spread out than some, but still a discomfort and easily cuts your fingers on the edges
-Comes with an 8-way dpad but while UP-Lower-LEFT-RIGHT work great and possess a nice feel, NW/NE and SW/SE directions try taking some try to get right and get it really register...almost feels like it is only supposed to be a 4-way dpad (not an issue for me personally as my games mostly make use of the sticks).18 Comments Was this review useful for you? By Mani Arabi on December 22, 2010
In a nutshell:
I personally use this like a WIRELESS Handheld Remote Control for itunes and media players and for gaming. the receiver, when plugged straight into your pc, has a tendency to have difficulties with interference unless of course you're very close this really is resolved easily using the expander and placing it from causes of interference. Overall, an incredible controller and (Almost) fully programmable even though some minor setbacks exist.
Pros:
-Can program different instructions for every program! I personally use this gamepad like a wireless "remote" for iTunes, my media players, etc after i am from my computer. (I output to my tv which means this functionality is extremely helpful)
-Programmable (extensively)
-Force Feedback
-Supports XInput and DInput (XInput = new standard, "auto detects" game settings DInput = "old" standard make use of this mode to program the buttons.
-Nice solid feel, buttons are crisp
-Good range, IF clear of interference (see cons)
neutral:
-While in DInput mode, it IS the rumblepad2 (or whatever Logitechs old "famous" controller was).
-In XInput, it detects because the F710 and isn't prrr-rrrglable. (Must make use of the DInput to program)
Cons:
-Range suffers drastically from interference. When connected to my pc directly, the signal unsuccessful after i was 3 ft away. However, I used the extension (that is included with it) and place the receiver on my small desk and it really works flawlessly from over 20 ft away within my kitchen now.
-Not every programmable functions appear to operate right. particularly, I set the L/R triggers to CTRL+Up/Lower in Itunes to ensure that I possibly could affect the volume. By Sukru Tikves VINE VOICE on October 26, 2010 Vine Customer Overview of Free Product This latest Logitech game controller is really a natural evolution of my Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2. As the older model was mimicking PS2 controller style, F710 is a mix of current Xbox 360 Console and PS3 models.
The general quality is what's expected from the good Logitech product. it feels sturdy and heavy enough, while provides comfort with soft plastic grips. The buttons and sticks are responsive, and miniature wireless receiver is a superb plus. My only complaint would be that the controller is slightly small in my hands, and I'd prefer Xbox 360 Console Controller like a better fit.
Nevertheless the major feature within this new F710 model is neither the programmable buttons, nor the truly amazing looks, but the opportunity to emulate both older controllers and the Xbox 360 Console wired controller using the switch of the switch. If you have an accumulation of both older and newer games, you know my discomfort. Most Games for Home windows titles would only accept the Xbox 360 Console controller like a keyboard alternative, on the other hand that would not work with slightly older ones (such as the original Prince of Persia trilogy). Then you'd have to switch controllers every time you switched between the games (keeping both of them plugged simultaneously - regrettably - causes more issues).
Thus, should you leave your PS3 or 360 every so often, and return to laptop computer, you will find yourself aware of F710. Forget about switching controllers between games!
