By Peaty on March 14, 2010 Style Name: HDMI Size: Standard
I acquired this cable in my Alienware M15x laptop. I had been surprised it'd did not provide an HDMI and was unfamiliar with displayport. I acquired this cable and so i could watch my movie files during vacation. The adapter is effective and is extremely well-crafted. The part that connects to the information port includes a positive locking system that is nice. The Standard can also be excellent and it FEELS substantial and great.
Information. For me (as pointed out within the comments below), to be able to send the audio with the HDMI cable, you will have to enter into the "seem and Audio devices" from the user interface and alter the seem playback Default Device towards the displayport cable. If you do not the seem can come the laptop loudspeakers or whatever loudspeakers you've connected to laptops.
Only a quick update. I have used this cable on and off for some time and still it works all right. more and more hotels have nice TV's with HDMI in plugs in order to play my movies from the laptop that is nice.
I simply desired to point out that even though the photo from the adapter may seem like a USB initially glance It Isn't, it's a DisplayPort male finish you're seeing. This can be a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, Similar to the title states. I see so many people giving this item bad reviews simply because they made the error of ordering it thinking it's a USB to HDMI. it is not. The title and description is true. I am not to imply I have never purchased the incorrect factor in error but I can not say I'd blame in my mistake.

this works best for me. I purchased four of these, hoping to save on shipping (not, you pay $3 each for shipping) and was worried the seem wouldn't work. Well things are great. They showed up inside a couple of times of an order. Audio comes through the adapter in to the TV all right. Here's my setup - Dell E6400 Laptop with Home windows 7 64 bit with whatever IE includes that.
I unplugged my $6.00 HDMI cable from [...] (another fantastic deal - I've two and tends to buy more) from my Roku (great factor to possess for those who have Netflix and posess zero laptop with HDMI) that is connected to my 50" Panisonic Viera Plasma, stuck that into this adapter and then in to the laptop and then viewed last weeks's Fringe on Hulu without any problems. Used to do practically nothing but Hook it up. Computer problems I do not like since i operate in I.T. and do not take computer problems home. The product is extremely suggested!!
Update - as the second poster stated - "....I purchased this adapter with BargainCell. It had been said to be a StarTech brand. However, the particular adapter I received was another brand. .... BTW, another brand adapter works." Another brand which i recieved from Bargincell looks such as the one pictured like a "premium" adapter from another seller. No Guarantee what you're going to get, but seems like both of them work.2 Comments Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... by J. Reinhart on August 31, 2010 Style Name: HDMI Size: Standard
I was a bit disappoint to see my new Dell laptop come with DP++ (DisplayPort++) output rather of HDMI. I connected laptops with this particular adapter to some 6ft HDMI cable straight into my 1080p Phillips flatscreen. Everything comes through perfect with seem. The "locking" design to help keep the cable in performs in addition to it ought to. I am fully pleased with this adapter since it works.Comment Was this review useful for you? By Lantana Al TOP 500 REVIEWER on The month of january 12, 2010 Style Name: DVI Size: Standard
I purchased this to operate 3 monitors with an ATI 5770. I thought I could use a passive adapter since I did not need dual-link DVI on the monitor I was connecting it to (because it was just 1920x1200). However, apparently , you'll need an energetic ADAPTER if you wish to run 3 monitors. Yes, this works if you wish to run two monitors but to ensure that the ATI 5770 so that you can output to three monitors, you have to be NATIVE DisplayPort and it appears that the passive adapter isn't considered "native" because when utilizing a passive adapter, it doesn't really output a local DisplayPort signal. To transform a local DisplayPort signal to DVI, an energetic adapter is needed.
Information: It appears the 5000 series cards have two RAMDACs to allow them to only output two signals that need a RAMDAC. A local DisplayPort signal doesn't need a RAMDAC. Due to the two RAMDAC limitation, the only method to get three monitors is by using a local DisplayPort signal since it does not need a RAMDAC. Passive converters Don't convert native DisplayPort signals and THEREFORE REQUIRE using a RAMDAC. Since 2 RAMDACs can be found, a passive adapter, which requires another RAMDAC, will not work with 3 monitor setups.15 Comments Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... My work provided Lenovo T500 includes a Display Port which this works fine with. They appear to be among the couple of firms that use DP. Nice resolution. Otherwise I can not have two exterior screens.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. If the review is inappropriate, Please tell us. I got myself the product to include a 37" LG High definition tv to my computer setup like a media screen. The entire reason for by using this adapter instead of the very fact my video card includes a HDMI output is always that my video card utilizes a new technology known as Eyefinity. You are able to run three displays as lengthy as you is really a DisplayPort monitor. After doing a bit of thorough searching for AMD's website, I discovered articles showing adapters you could use to make use of stated third display. alas, the content was incorrect. Although this adapter works flawlessly to make use of my LG High definition tv, it won't activate like a third display. I possibly could only run two at any time. Further (many hrs of hunting the net) research demonstrated that Eyefinity are only able to readily active adapter. This product is really a passive adapter. The main difference is power. An active adapter receives power from another source (USB, AC adapter, ETC.). This converts the information mid-stream and is operated by the DP bus. To anybody searching at buying this to transform a monitor to make use of DisplayPort with Eyefinity, steer clear.
That being stated, it's still a perfect device. I've been utilizing it for any month with no issues. The actual nice factor is enables HD output with 1080i/30Hz interlaced. For whatever reason, it wouldn't work this way under HDMI alone. I would suggest it for anybody that has a mature High definition tv who would like to utilize it like a computer monitor. Simply do not expect results with Eyefinity. Not really a fault from the manufacturer of the device, but of AMD.
BTW, I could get three displays working. I needed to pull out a rather older video card having a similar chipset because the card I've. My computer has become running two overclocked video cards powering three large displays. I still make use of this adapter though it may be not needed.3 Comments Was this review useful for you?
